Fish & Fiddle Activities - Page 2

Things To Do On The Lake - A

resort activities | lake activities-A | lake activities-B | nature activities | area attractions

Lake Norfork offers a wide range of outdoor activities. Water skiing, tubing, snorkeling, swimming, scuba, fishing, cruising, exploring, watching wildlife, star gazing, and just plain hanging out with family and friends in the sun and water. With a little planning your entire family can stay active on the lake for several days without doing the same thing twice. Here are a few examples of what many of our guests enjoy.

Family fun at the Fish & Fiddle private dock - a 3 generation family
that has been coming here every July for over 25 years.

Start with the basics. Children and adults alike enjoy swimming in both the lake and our pool.  The lake is warm enough to enjoy most years from mid May through mid September. The swim deck on our private dock has a ladder. You can swim all night long if you wish. For a most spectacular swimming experience take a dip in the moonlight! The water is very clean and clear so snorkeling along the shoreline is also fun. Children enjoy seeing and chasing the sunfish that make their home along the shoreline shallows.

scuba diving
Scuba diving is popular on Lake Norfork due to good visibility

Local P.A.D.I. certified dive shops supply any need your scuba diving activities demand. Dive clubs have established over 30 underwater attractions. Maps are available for locating this interesting collection of old home sites, trucks, and other sunken mysteries. Warm water and great visibility make September a popular month for diving.

Many of our guests rent a boat for numerous activities on the lake. One of the most favorite activities is exploring Lake Norfork's 500 miles of shoreline, most of which is not developed.

Want to just relax in peace and quiet? There are many locations where you can just beach your boat, hop ashore, and spend some time by yourself. The shoreline all around the lake is public property, so you don't have to worry about trespassing.

Water skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing are all popular on Norfork

Consistently smooth water is what makes Lake Norfork a favorite destination for skiers, wakeboarders, and tubers. Even on windy days you'll find smooth water in the coves.

What is the the best time of year to visit Lake Norfork?  It depends on what you like! The locals love to argue about when the best weather is - late spring or early fall. The last two weeks of April and all of May have clear, low humidity days in the 70's or low 80's. The trees have completely leafed out by May. There are no crowds anywhere, though Norfork is seldom crowded. But there are fewer boats on the water this time of year.

September and October present more great weather. Most of September tends to be much like summer - warm, humid days, but nights do cool off. Foliage does not begin until mid October, and when we experience a truly great foliage display it occurs in the last few days of October and the first few days of November. September and October are excellent fishing and nature activity months. In fact many people prefer to pursue these activities in cooler weather.
