Fish & Fiddle Activities - Page 3

Things To Do On The Lake - B

resort activities | lake activities-A | lake activities-B | nature activities | area attractions

A Unique Beach
Sand Island is a white sand beach accessible only by boat as there are no roads or bridges to it. It is about a 10 minute run by water from Fish and Fiddle. For many years Sand Island has been a favorite spot with many of our guests, especially the families. Water ski, swim, picnic, and relax on Sand Island if you want something truly unique on Norfork Lake.

Catching fish - without a pole!
A "Fish Petting Zoo"

Along the shores of Sand Island your children can experience the simple wonder of feeding wild fish by hand. This little girl had no trouble "petting" these trusting baby bluegill as she offered them handouts. Out of a school of several hundred she also caught many by hand, and after a close inspection, turned them loose.

Children at play
A sandbox with a little water

Every good castle needs a moat. With a little digging these two young sand architects managed to flood their moat properly, even if the castle itself never appeared. But such problems have little meaning for children playing on Sand Island!

Family outing on Norfork Lake's Sand Island
Mothers making memories with their daughters

With the rental deck boat you can make a day of it on Sand Island. Pack a picnic, a water tube, water skis, beach toys, and off you go. Use the beach as a starting point for water skiing and tubing. As the younger children play in the sand the older children can water ski.

Dry Run Creek
Catching a 4 pound trophy brown trout at Dry Run Creek - It's just for kids!

Dry Run Creek For Kids
For a truly special fishing experience take the young fishers in your family trout fishing at Dry Run Creek at the base of Norfork Lake Dam. Dry Run Creek is right next to the Norfork Trout Hatchery, which keeps Dry Run well stocked with large rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout. This is an artificial bait only catch and release stream, and adults must accompany their children. Tour the hatchery and see trout being raised from eggs to 12 inches long. Across the road is Quarry Park where children can enjoy a large public play station.
